Refraction 2
Mixed media on canvas
Refraction 2 explores how perception shifts through layers—of light, memory, and emotion. Using mixed media and repeated horizontal marks, I built the surface in bands that both divide and connect the composition, echoing the way light fractures as it passes through different materials.
The saturated reds, muted greens, and luminous yellows interact like light passing through glass, creating moments of intensity and quiet transparency. Textural disruptions and subtle distortions invite the viewer to consider how experience is altered by perspective—how what we see is shaped by what lies beneath.
This work is less about a fixed image and more about transformation: the bending of color, space, and thought as they move through layers of perception.
